Hi All,
Just some exciting news regarding the 18 metre entries for Warwick , it is
officially the first largest 18 metre comp held here in Aus in the history
of 18 metre. It has been a slow take up but now 18 metre is very popular and
it should be interesting to see how it goes. The weather has been great so
far with speeds getting around 122 kph which is not bad for winter.
Thanks to Little Petunia for his recent entry, now I am wondering who is
left with an 18 metre glider to enter?
A good rollout for club class and Standard class , we could do with a few
more 15 metre and open class gliders so come along to Queenslands
friendliest comp.
Work is still happening on the field in preparation, some winter rain helped
keep the grass alive so it is not a dust bowl yet. Those who have not sorted
out accomodation please do so now as there is a shortage in town due to two
other events being held during that week. Google search or go to our web
page ( www.sdasc.org.au ) for info. Some of the B & B's are quite good. Some
of the other smaller towns around the area like Killarney, Clifton , Allora
etc are still within 15 to 20 minutes drive. There is camping available on
site.
A few of us are having some un official practice days leading up to the comp
which are the Wednesday, Thursday , Friday. If you are interested in coming
earlier please let me know.
