The motor glider in question was privately owned by a member of Southern Cross Gliding Club (which is based at Camden). The pilot was apparently heading from Camden back to Bankstown where the aircraft is hangared, with his young son as a passenger when the accident occurred. I caught the Sydney Channel 7 and 9 news at 6pm and the picture of the scene showed a completely burnt out wreckage apart from what looked like a small part of a wingtip.

I knew the pilot as a fellow club member and a real decent bloke and I'm sure we all feel enormously for his family, friends and club members who will be stunned by this tragedy.

Out of respect for his family (I believe he may have been subscribed to this list) I would urge all Aus-Soarers to save the speculation until names have been formally released and an investigation can determine the cause.
