I remember outlanding in the carpark of the Mount Mary Hotel. On a sunday afternoon, I tied the glider to a horse rail in the front of the pub and stepped inside, and was told that they were closed on sundays, I said I wanted to use the phone, and was diredted to a phone box at the end of the veranda, this was in 1981 or 82, and the phone in the phonebox had a crank handle on it ( for making crank calls ) I used the phone waiting for someone to come out and laugh, but got put through to my crew at Murray Bridge, I spent the rest of the day in the pub, and when I was asked are you hitch hiking, I said no oh we didnt hear a car pull up, no I landed my glider out there, the locals freaked out, and insisted on buying drinks for me, by the time the crew got there around 9pm. I was in no condition to be derigging a glider, I was having extreme trouble looking after myself, but the publican was great, fed me and generally looked after me all afternoon and some of the night, I thought it was cool, but the crew werent so happy....
