Thanks, there is a bit about Pirat Gehriger and the award to Martin Simons
in the current magazine. But unless he was in Aus in late '40s would not be
him I don't think.

There was a glider called a "Pirat" but my recollection (and my logbook)
says that it was a single-seat wooden glider a bit like an Arrow.  At
the time I flew it (mid 80's) it was owned by Mike Valentine.

There was a famous glider pilot named Pirat Gehriger.  The IGC awards a
Pirat Gehriger medal, which was awarded to Martin Simons last year.
