I remember taking my car up on field one day (A Suzuki Hatch, y'know the one
with a 800cc engine, three cyclinders and front wheel drive). My little car had
a towball because I used to own a laser dinghy, that it towed quite well. It
had recently come back from the panel beaters because I roo ran into it 4 weeks
prior (happened when returning home from field at dusk).

Anyway, I launched with a student.

We we thermalling away, but I noticed from our vantage point that someone was
using my little car to tow the Pie Cart (a converted caravan) to the launch
point. It almost looked like the caravan was moving itself, with my car as a
small spec at the front of it.

Didn't think much of it at the time.

Continued the training flight.

Enjoying myself.

Looked down at the launch point to see my car at more than right angles to the
caravan with a crowd gathered around.

I decided to land.

The driver had managed to jack-knife the caravan into the car. Bent panels,
back to the workshop again.

There was talk that the BBL may cover this, but nothing eventuated.

I never did see any money from the driver of the car, despite offers of
assistance.

>From that point on, I took my car keys with me when my car was on field.

This happed over 11 years ago!
