Given the paperwork trail that goes with a glider, serial no etc, one would
"hope" it would be difficult to get it registered, even in a different
country. But cars etc have VINs etc and it happens with them, and I guess
the "system" for motor vehicles is a lot bigger and more comprehensive than
for gliders and it still happens. Then of course there is always the
possibility that it gets stripped into component parts with no serial number
on individual components.

Tracking one down would be hard if the thief had his own paddock and a wife
who could drive the winch. ;-)
Bit like the recovery rate of trail bikes stolen in the city.
