JR and Chris
I wish I could get there. The Kingfisher was a Waikerie glider once and it
would be good if it could show up the discus etc.
I remember the 50th birthday at Waikerie. Alan and I took the Golden Eagle
which had just had its 50th. Nigel did a fast run in the Diamant, which those
of us who knew, were watching the rudder to see how it buzzed at high speed.
Some Pom threw the Discus around, to which Maurie quietly suggested he put a
few more metres of altitude before starting. I clearly remember looking into
the cockpit of the Discus as it went over the top of a loop a couple of hundred
feet above me. The club had just paid for the glider and MB was a little
worried club members might not appreiciate seeing the discus at that height
upside down.
The best thing was the circleing of the field with the discus and the grunau
baby 2. Released at the same height and circle until one touches down. The
discus won, der, but the difference for everyone to see was just a great lesson
on how far gliders had come. I seem to remember the dinner was a fantastic
event, but that was 20 years ago and I may have rubbed a bit too much alcohol
into my head on the saturday night.
Try and keep some of those young bucks out of the Oly, Jonesy, Billy Mudge,
Jinksy, David Peitch, Bob and Sue. They will all flock to it, I've seen it
before. Hey JR, please remember me to them and I hope you and the Oly have a
great time.

Green with envy
Patch

Keep up the fun. It is a recreational sport and cameraderie is an important
part of it/that.

  Gotta wanna be there!

I was not refering to you. I was refering to the fella who said he
recognised certain posters and thus just hit the delete button and told us all
we should be more serious about things.

Whats on at Waikerie this weekend?

      Regards

          Hi fellow stirrers,

Just got back from a fortnight in Qld visiting my kids.
Just cleared a mass of email and was concerned that a lot of the
aus-soaring ones exhibited people having fun.
          The virus is spreading.
Seemed to get worse after that sourpuss slammed such activities a
while ago :-)

          Chris
