Maurice Little, the GFA Development Officer will no doubt see your email in due course (he is in Ararat this weekend), and action it, but I will also give him a verbal nudge tomorrow.
Speaking of Ararat, most of you will already know that Geoff Vincent, a member of the Grampians Soaring Club achieved an absolute altitude on Thursday of 29,364'QNH in the Grampians wave. Some of you may recall Kel Day. Kel made a wave flight on the 20 September 1983, and achieved an absolute altitude of 27,400 QFE (abt 28,400 QNH). Geoff's flight has obviously substantially exceeded this. Can anybody substantiate (or even suggest - e.g. rumor) a better absolute height in Victoria? The other figure that we need to know is what is the gain of height record? As a small aside, I know of one flight (at Pomonal on the east side of the Grampians) where a pilot took a winch launch (1800') straight into wave, and achieved a Gold C gain of height! There is no doubt the Grampians are a Gold/Diamond mine, but do not be deluded into thinking that this is an easy area to work. The Grampians are VERY different to such well known wave sites as the Stirlings, Wilpena Pound, Bunya's, or the Australian Alps - e.g. Bunyan. However if you have the right equipment, the right experience, and the balls (sorry ladies - metaphorically speaking here), the Grampians Soaring Club invites you to "come fly with us".
