I believe the active constituent in nappy liners is the same material as used
in the horticulture industry - known as water crystals. The substance can
absorb up to 500 times its weight of water and forms a gel like substance when
fully absorbed.
You should be able to purchase the stuff at any plant nursery.

A big benefit of using water crystals, or nappy liners, is that even if your
plastic bag has a hole, it still won't leak. I used the nappy liner option for
many years, before having an installed peetube. Works well.

Some commercial products talk about having absorbent crystals to instantly
turn liquids into an odorless gel.
Does anyone know what this absorbent might be?
I have looked at the crystals used in some commercial cat tray formulations
but the crystals are much bigger and really have a different role.
I suppose that the fallback position would be to crush some of these up to a
smaller particle size.
Anyone with any other absorbent that will instantly turn liquids into an
odorless gel?
