Yeah, it's pretty amazing: something the shape of a glider would not
fly well enough with one wing.

But something like an F-15 gets a lot of lift from the engine intakes
and the shape of the fuselage.

The commentary states that he landed at about 250 knots instead of the
usual 130... so you could say it wasn't flying very well!

The commentary implies that his wingman didn't tell him there was a wing
missing ;-)
