RE. RAA " and they are thriving with numerous new aircraft each year in the $100,000 - $150,000 range", Are there any ( i know of a couple) or are there any clubs considering adding some of these kinds of these types of A/C to their fleets? Conversley, are there any RAA clubs with any sailplanes in their fleets?
As far as I am aware, RAA has agreed not to register motorised gliders on their register. There are certainly a number of aircraft that can still be registered on the GFA or the RAA register (for example, the Pipistrel Sinus) BUT if they are registered with RAA then they are not permitted to turn their motor off - so cannot operate as gliders.

As there is a parallel path for gliding, it is possible that there could be gliders registered with RAA - but I'm not quite sure how they would operate...
