The comp finished on Saturday (5 July) and Australia had a podium finish
with Nathan Johnson in a credible 3rd place. Andrew Maddocks finished 11th.
Congratulations to both pilots on their first overseas competition!!!

The weather didn't cooperate too well with four out of eight contest days -
many days overdeveloped with large showers and storms to contend with. On
one day, Andrew and I think one other pilot managed to escape from the
clutches of the local area and proceeded on task after the gate had opened.
It was all very quiet on the radio because just about everyone else couldn't
get away but Andrew pushed on and blitzed the field only to be disappointed
with a no-contest day. You can follow their stories via the blog on
www.joeyglide.com and the pre-worlds tab.

Four tasks - two 2 hour AAT's and two speed tasks (360km and 266km) were
flown. The comp web site was fantastic with up-to-date news and images. On
the last contest day we "watched" via the web site which suffered a delay in
information of only about 10 minutes. No live images but a lot of
back-of-the-hand calculations following the progressive updating of landing
times.

CONGRATULATIONS from a proud sponsor!!!
