Sorry, I could not resist this one.... > Windows XP for the last 7 years here, no reformat, no spyware, no viruses.
Not all aeroplanes look good. But with the exception of Blaniks, most sailplanes ARE nice to look at. Some are beautiful. I would find it difficult to fly something really ugly (I'm a particularly shallow person) except that perhaps while you are inside the plane, the only thing you could see would be the wing tips so maybe you would not notice. When you see some really ugly machine, you have to stand back and say, "is that an accident, or did they do that on purpose?" The Wirraway. The EH Holden. A PC running XP. I could not spend more than a few seconds a day at work starting at something repellant on screen which looked as if it had been designed by a 16 year old on the back of a cig packet on the bus on the way to work. It's aesthetics, pure and simple. And that is not style over substance. There may be PCs which have won design awards. There may be PCs in the museum of modern art. There may be examples of PC software which have won design awards for their wonderful interface. There may be creative industries where people use PCs. But in the vast majority of cases, it ain't so. Macs have won shedloads of awards for industrial design, software and interface design and are overwhelmingly the choice of people working in creative industries. And there are very, very few programs which are not available on a Mac. So when I cannot upload a new bit of firmware to my PDA or Video recorder, I don't lose too much sleep. I didn't buy a Blanik.
