Hi all,

In another forum I read, I encountered the following document:

http://www.recreationalflying.org/forum/attachments/general-discussion/12944d1255419164-goodbye-750kg-weight-increase-319108152_cao_95_early_implementation_of_part_103_sport_rec_forum_posting_september_2009.pdf

" To alleviate delays associated with the drafting queue at the Attorney
General’s
OLDP, CASA was requested to bring forward the policy privileges contained
within
the current drafting instructions for CASR Part 103 by amending CAOs 95.4,
95.8,
95.10, 95.12, 95.12.1, 95.32, 95.54 and 95.55. "

...

"CASA confirmed the total removal of the parallel path from CAO 95.4. This
is a
break from what has been publicly consulted policy by CASA in the Part 103
NPRM and will prevent a small number (<5) pilots from operating legally
unless they join GFA. "

I'm not surprised that so few pilots flew under the parallel path, given it
was very poorly publicized (and the GFA's website implied it didn't exist).

The other point possibly of interest is the following

" The CAOs will be amended to allow towing of gliders by RA-Aus and HGFA
aeroplanes and GFA powered sailplanes only if tow aircraft is on CASA
accepted list. One off exemptions will be provided for. All known presently
utilised aircraft are acceptable (Jabiru, Katana Extreme, Moyes Dragonfly
etc.)
however CASA will work with affected organisations to establish and maintain

a list of acceptable non GA tow aircraft. "

RA-Aus aircraft and powered sailplanes I can understand, but how does a HGFA
aircraft tow a glider?

Cheers,

Al
