and while governments do nothing (as you request), and doubters expend their energy doubting; some people go out and collect real world data on where the current real world capabilities are, and set the benchmark for others to outdo, thereby step by step generate improvement which neither of the other 2 parties are, so that one day real soon now the high tech civilisation does indeed run on the factors you note.

In the challenge, we had Top Gear run a meths motorscooter, school girls run an attach hybrid, 'Deep Green' run 350km in a prototype Brisbane electric; and Neil Bates, Ed Ordinscki, Bob Jennings & Vern Schuppan talking to us as well as Tesla US.
Give you one guess what the next challenge entry list will look like
(& they will all need loggers and 0.01m/s varios and other cool electronic gear)
