70/80% of the stranger traffic into my property ended when the neighbours & I
removed all the signs from the start of our shared driveway. We used to get
minor break ins, wheelies & doughnuts on lawns etc. Oz will probably go the way
of gated estates as other parts of the world.

Subject: [Aus-soaring] The down side or Gliding Club Publicity
In recent times there has been a push to increase the public exposure of
gliding clubs it their communities and
our club has embraced this and has recently erected signs on the highway that
runs past our front gate, see
the attached photos. Is this too much exposure?
For over 20 years the club has operated from this site without one break in,
however in the 6 weeks since these
signs have been erected we have had two break ins, we suspect the same
people. Is this coincidence or are the
two linked? We will probably never know, but it is food for thought.
Fortunately to date the damage has been limited to the front gate, digging up
one runway doing donuts and breaking
into club house where it would appear nothing was taken, we also believe
police know who they are. We shudder at the
thought of what they may get up to if they broke into one of the hangers.
