Given that there was approximately 157MB of unzipped data they must have got
a real wriggle on to "thoroughly debunk" it all. Wish they put that effort
into collecting and interpreting actual data.

Did not hear that, but possible and not surprising most e-mail systems I am
familiar with would have that signal to noise ratio.

But 157MB of data is available here : http://www.filedropper.com/foi2009, As
far as I could see it contains 1073 emails. If indeed you are correct that
only the e-mails that "suit the denialist agenda" were released, it still
implies there is a lot damming evidence provided.

Oh you mean they should be like IPCC and provide evidence contrary
to their cause?
In any case here : http://www.eastangliaemails.com/index.php you can find a
searchable archive of the emails, people can make up their own minds if
interested.

The CRU's head, Professor Phil Jones has personally confirmed in an
interview that hacked materials spread on the internet are authentic. The
interview by a New Zealand investigative journalist, Ian Wishart, can be
found here: http://www.investigatemagazine.com/australia/latestissue.pdf

Is there better entertainment? Well if the issues were not so serious.

David, have you ever stopped to think, that perhaps the warming is real, but
not caused by human activity. Givent that currently we are in one of the
colder periods of Earth history and I do not mean last thousand years, I am
looking at the last 700 million years or so, perhaps the only way is up. I
do not believe that at this stage we are in any position to influence the
climate. So the only chance is to learn to live with the changes the nature
will impose. Hence I do not believe that squandering trillions on reducing
carbon dioxide emissions is helpful at all. Perhaps we should be spending
that money on learning to live the higher temperatures.
