To all owners of Schleicher gliders. After DG's announcement to charge an annual service fee of up to EUR 245 ($ 410) for their support of older DG or LS gliders, two owners of Schleicher gliders have contacted me already fearing that other manufacturers will follow suit.
I have just discussed the matter with the Schleicher management who want me to assure you that they have no plans to introduce an annual service fee or levy customers who require ongoing support or spare parts. After sales support will continue as usual for all Schleicher gliders even if they were built 50 years ago. May I combine this confirmation with my best wishes for a Merry Christmas and lots of safe flying in 2010. May all your hopes for gliding endeavours in 2010 come true!
