Mike, you said :

All the GFA April Newsletter said in regard to CASA was :

"CASA

Discussions have progressed significantly with CASA, with the new Contract
Deeds signed and in place.

It is indeed fortunate that GFA had already commenced the office systems
upgrade and also to formally adopt the Safety Management System, as these
will both fit nicely with the new regulatory environment required by
CASA."

Are you sure what you were told was right Mike ?

Chris,

I have no reason to doubt what he told me. His wife is on the GFA safety committee and is an engineer in the gas industry doing safety systems.

I find it easier to believe that the GFA would lie to the members. I sure hope that no student is killed by an instructor during the time the GFA is in breach of the CASA requirements because I wonder if the BBL or the directors liability would pay.

I think the whole legal problem with the CASA sport aviation approach is that it seems CASA regards the organisation like an airline or charter company, all of whose ops take place under the airline ops manual. There is no "private" operation in this at all. This seems inappropriate for an individual activity in a liberal democracy but is close to the situation that prevailed in the Third Reich.
