Subject: Re: [Aus-soaring] AUS Rankings and the CCN
Hi Adam,
All is revealed on the competition website,
http://deltaone.soho.on.net/Benalla2011. Go to the Entry List and the details
are there.
It works like this:
We have a limit of 70, with 10 places reserved for foreign pilots. If on 31st
October there are over 70 entries, then the entries lowest on the ranking list
(over the 70) will be advised that they are on a waiting list. These pilots
will be the first to be accepted if there are any cancellations.
If the 10 foreign places have not been filled on October 31st then the unfilled
places will go to any excess Australian entries.
Any entries after 1st November will be accepted in order of receipt regardless
of ranking position.
If you are ranked 40 I don't see how you can miss out if your entry is in by
31st October, and if you then have to withdraw your place will become available
for others.
I don't think your scenario can happen, because after 31st October the ranking
list no longer comes into it. There is no way that anyone can get bumped after
that date.
Cheers
Tim

Subject: [Aus-soaring] AUS Rankings and the CCN
G'day Tim,
Good work to all those involved in the new AUS rankings, hope it achieves what
we all would like it too! Got no idea on how to ask the first question below,
so I'll just type out the example and let you figure out what the question is!
Extremely unlikely scenario, but you'll get the idea..
Max competitors = 60. Someone ranked 100 has put their application in early,
and all but the 60th person has entered. The 100th ranked pilot is on their
way to the comp, after managing to convince their boss they can have 3wks off
to compete properly. The day before the comp starts, the 60th ranked pilot
suddenly gets their stuff together and decides to compete. In all reality, I'm
sure the CD would allow 61 competitors, but who would be pilot that can only
fly HOC?
The reason I ask is that I'm currently ranked 40th, and because of my situation
this year - I may well be one of these last minute entries and don't really
want to wreck someone's hopes or holiday.
The second question is, we should be encouraging international entries too so
that we can lift the level of our Aussie racing pilots. Are we reserving 'x'
amounts of spots for international entries?
Regards,
WPP
