It has been discussed, but it is quite difficult. Every user interface element 
would have to be rewritten in Objective-C from C++. There are other limits, 
like you have to pay to be a developer, and you must get approval for each 
change via Apple store for release, and none of the XCSoar developers being 
Object-C developers, and issues with the readability of iPhone/iPad screens in 
sunlight, it was felt best to put the effort into Android instead.

It is possible, basically just needs a volunteer on the development team.
