Carl, I'm our club Puchacz (and our other SZD aircraft) have a factory PU
finish. I haven't seen a Polish fibreglass sailplane with gelcoat (not to say
they aren't out there).

The GFA website is a good resource for Ads. (gfa.org.au)

Regards, Ben

Carl,

I thought the Puchacz was already painted in PU. The Jantar Std 2 s
were. I've never heard of cracked finish on a Puch and they've been
around long enough for that to happen if they were finished in
Vorgelat. Unlikely they were Schwabellack finished gliders.

You only need to remove ALL the gelcoat if it was cracked.
Otherwise sand smooth with quite coarse paper, work down to a finer
grit before repainting. If overspraying PU start with finer grit as
you don't have much thickness to work with.

Consult paint manufacturer about recommended undercoating.

Ignore DMcD, he's trying to be funny.

Mike
