Hi all,A really excellent photo - probably an arcus cloud arising from strong storm downdrafts striking the surface and pushing out horizontally, lifting the surrounding warmer air up to condensation level. The lightning certainly suggests storm activity rather than frontal or convergence effects. A similar phenomenon was photographed over Warrnambool on September 9 2010 and made the local paper.
