Hi folks There are a number of interesting met resources available from UCAR (University Corporation for Atmospheric Research). Their most recently available resource is an online text book on tropical meteorology - see http://www.meted.ucar.edu/tropical/textbook/ (you will need to register but access is free). I have just started reading this and it is certainly very interesting. Whilst it is a text aimed at at the university level, it is not necessary to get into complex Maths (such as Calculus) provided you have a reasonable Science background (or are prepared to do a bit of extra reading when you run up against concepts that are a bit rusty). Amongst other things, it touches on El Nino/La Nina, which is an important phenomenon for the eastern states as well as weather analysis and forecasting.
