All incoming and outgoing traffic at Oslo Airport Gardermoen was halted for 
more than an hour on Thursday afternoon, after an unidentified hang glider or 
sail plane was observed circling over the airport at 8000 ft.
In the meantime, a number of commercial airliners had to be diverted to other 
airports, even as far away as Sweden. The extra costs to the airlines involved 
are substantial, NRK reports.

Several attempts at identifying the straying aircraft were made, but by Friday 
morning the identity was still a mystery.
