Hi Mal,Tim & All,
On an extremely quick scan through, I found the doc highlighted by Mal,
(Member Protection Policy), a very interesting document, whose existence I was
not aware of. At version 13 it has obviously undergone a lot of development
from its first mooting in July 2006. It appears to be heavily slanted towards
child and youth protection, but (as Tim earlier says), the principles
enumerated within would appear, at least on the surface, to enable a review of
Mal's problem: There does not seem to a time limit for bringing up a complaint.
I searched the GFA web site (in vain) for our Member Protection Information
Officers, but maybe I wasn't holding my tongue in the right place. Of course, I
did not have my lucky rabbit's foot with me either!
Can anyone in GFA (or elsewhere), tell me if the policy has ever been used -
even once to resolve a complaint? Come to think of it, has a complaint ever
been made, let alone resolved?
Given that the GFA does not have a Business Manager - the primary contact,
listed in the document - at this time, the whole process seems to be a bit
spiked, if you get my drift.
I haven't the faintest idea what Mal is trying to say in this last posting, but
maybe??? it may have something to do with the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
What (and where for that matter), on earth is this Court anyway? What powers
does it have, and who empowered it anyway? How binding are its judgements, and
on whom? Where, and to whom, can an appeal be made? How? What does it cost?
Courts produce judgements, which are always highly documented. Where can I find
a list of this Court's judgements that relate to Aviation sports, and more
particularly to GFA related soaring -as opposed to hang/para and the like
gliding? Is it possible that this Court has never arbitrated on a single issue
of this nature (in Australia??), on the planet?.
I am not holding my breath here, whilst anxiously waiting enlightenment.
Perhaps the more religiously inclined members of the GFA would suggest that I
change my name to Peter, (or is that Paul?), and travel the Road to Damascus?
Cheers,
Gary
