This is the latest in the season there has been big wave in memory.Gordo and
Jim Payne have both been pushing hard in the Sierra wave. Jim just took back
the #2 position on the OLC, but Gordo with the top two flights just has to fly
something like 500k - an average summer day in Minden - to get it back.
Meanwhile, Klaus Ohlmann has the lead. Gordo would need to better 1700k again
to take that place, which would take a big wave day or epic thermal day. The
summer is off to a slow start as in Australia, so epic thermal days appear to
be hard to find.
Both Gordo and Jim have no trouble getting cleared into Class A and
Restricted Areas, in pretty busy airspace.
