It's a standard Schweizer release, there are thousands of them in use. Pretty 
simple, and easy to inspect.

Weird!  Looking closely at the photo (1) where's the tow hook? and (2) it might 
be impact damage but looking at the starboard tailplane and elevator, it looks 
like something may have jammed in between the tailplane and elevator near the 
extremity?
