Ian, a lot of the Altair owners were referred to either Tasman or Borgelt for a needle variometer and most bought these - can't see why anyone would pay up to $1,500.00 for a winter mechanical package with no audio and still have to add a flask!
Some like myself only use the Vega audio with no needle indication. Recently a friend of mine flew the Ventus and when he landed wanted to know where the vario needle was - sad.
