I think that in the flight they're commemorating, Orville soared for
12 minutes or so in a strong wind and essentially remained motionless
over the take-off spot, like a modern day paraglider pilot, briefly
before they get blown over the back. Or a 70's hang glider pilot in 25
knots at the beach.

Lets wait a few months and commemorate the first flights at the
Wasserkuppe which were really the start of gliding as a sport.
