Tom,

That's OK Tom but you run the risk of simultaneously reducing the amount of over-centre lock in the wheel-down position. I had the same problem when I replaced the tyre on my PIK 20B and eventually re-positioned the wheel-up locking pin indent which left the wheel-down geometry unchanged.

Hi Jim,
When I got my 29 the doors were kept open by the tyre, a few turns of the rod end under seatpan fixed it.

A new Goodyear Flight Custom 3 is a large tyre. The 500x5 does not fit in an ASW20, which has more room than the Jantar gear. The doors of the 20 won't fully close. Soon to find out if FC3 fits ASW27. Plenty of room in ASH26, probably the best tyre for SLSPs. While you're investigating tyres, consider the Airstop butyl inner tubes available from Aircraft Spruce in the US, probably also at dot AU.

Thanks Macca.
That is handy information. I suspected that there might be variations, between brands, so it is good to have this confirmed.

Brands of 500X5 all vary~Goodyear Flight Custom 3 is much bigger than GY FC 2 and there are square and round sholders. Ian M

Can anyone please tell me the original tyre designation for a Jantar Std 2. I don't have ready access to the manuals at the moment.

I think it was 350x135 like the original Blanik one.

Yes I know most of them have been replaced with 5.00x5 tyres and that they ussually rub on the undercarriage legs.
