Ah, the old definition of engineer's Hell. All the components check out but the system doesn't work.

Hi All.

I'm pleased to report that the radio has been checked outside of the glider & appears to work, the screen lights up etc. However this means that the problem is in the power supply which also seems to be ok.

All we can do is replace the radio & see how it goes, fingers crossed.

Thanks to everyone who offered their help & advice, it's much appreciated.

Cheers.
Bernie.

Our club had 2 of these radios go wrong. The early models had poor sockets for their main chip and a possible emergency fix is described below. Note that this might not be your problem and there's a decent chance you'll make matters worse...

Locate the large main chip, it is square and has pins on all 4 sides and sits in a plastic socket. You may note that the socket has bulged somewhat in the middle of each side, i.e. the sides are no-longer straight. If so then you can carefully lever the chip out (google anti-static precautions).. With exceptional care you can prize-out the pins a little bit, both the ic and th socket if pos. Reinsert the correct way and test(!). This may restore the poor contact between the chip and socket (for another year...)

Our symptoms varied, but involved non-working and chinese characters on the lcd.

good luck...JR

Hi All.

I'm hopeing someone can help me.

I need to find a repairer for Microair radios in the Melbourne area asap, preferrably on the eastern side of Melb.

The Microair 760 that is in my club's ASW15 has suddenly ceased to function & I need this working for the up coming comp at Ararat. It is not powering up, wires & fuses have been checked both inside & outside of the radio with no obvious problems found.

All & any help is much appreciated.

Cheers.
Bernie.
