This was sent by a friend and would seem only minor damage to glider

use of Confor memory foam cushions in all gliders. Many may have
seen my demo of a piece of 25mm foam on a brick wall and I slam my
fist into foam on wall. Try doing that with yellow crap foam.

Maybe somebody in NZ may be able to tell us
I do know of a guy still in a wheel chair following a crash in
AUS. He was on crap yellow foam cushions AND he did not have his
harness tight because his instructor set a poor example by always
flying with loose harness. It is a shame our down wind check does
not include "STRAPS" like I think NZ and UK check has
Ian McPhee
Geoff Horwood once made the point in an article in the old AG that it
isn't a "downwind" check. It is a "pre landing" check.
As it is perfectly legal in Australia at present to land straight in
or join on base if safe to do so if you get it into your mind that it
is a "downwind" check you will likely forget to do it when not doing
a downwind.
Before somebody starts a rant about always doing circuits, consider
that, given the traffic and the situation, it may be far better and
safer to land straight in or join on base in certain circumstances.
Use the radio appropriately.
