This Melbourne based web site promotes a highly efficient compressed air engine (http://www.engineair.com.au). Maybe if it was on a pylon with a folding pusher prop driven by a couple of carbon fibre air bottles tucked in the fuselage somewhere, many perfectly sound older gliders like Jantars, Hornets, Libelles etc with many hours of life would then have sustainer ability if not self launching! I’m sure someone could readily assess feasibility.
