Nice toy...
A friend compared the IGC log from his iPad
to that from his CAI model 20 and recollections of reading the altimeter.
The fruity one had many altitude errors.

Sounds great. Except that without a connection
to ADS-B it lacks wind data, and estimates IAS
only from GPS ground speed and GPS
altitude. Wouldnât want to relay on it as a
backup ASI. Also its gliding range indications
and path guidance is based on a zero wind assumption also.
Ummmmm.....
Yeah its a toy.... that just might save your neck
if caught in hard IMC with a total electrics
failure. Particularly if you have taken the time
to test it and explore its limitations. It
doesn't have to be a precision AHRS, just one that keeps you right side up.
I do have some reservations about the forced
landing flightpaths. I wouldn't be doing a 270
degree turn and turning my back on the landing field.
Also good to remember to wait a few seconds
between calling "clear prop" and turning the key.
It gives people time to get away or yell stop.
Someone may even one day yell stop before the
prop hits the nosewheel towbar you forgot about.
Which leads to a more general point about the
checks and actions we take. If you don't actually
pay attention and think about the check or
action, what you are checking may not have
actually been done or the switch/control/whatever
is still in the wrong position. Or even the
controls may be hooked up backwards.
