G Dale recommended inverting the glider by bunting but in this case
the glider would have rolled inverted itself so the pilot just had to
fall out.

The awful Daily Mail referred to the pilot floating down while the
glider plummeted. In fact, they were travelling at much the same speed
for some time judging by the sequence of pictures. Probably with the
glider whirling about like a sycamore seed… so the pilot was perhaps
lucky to have not got the chute caught on a wing as the glider passed
him.
