Probably 25 years ago while staying at the B&B on Tooraweenah Airport
during gliding safari, Mrs Hallett would play a cassette of a songs about
Mr Butlet and his airline. I am wondering if any who stayed there have a
copy? I do know Bathurst club would often have a summer camp there for
msny years.

Scott Casson has recently written a book "The Yellow Canary" from Butler
Air Transport to Ansett Express. If you are interested in that era (QAL is
there also) of Aviation then could recommrnd the book. (Could ask Scott
email [email protected] or 0421610470.)

My interest is as a 12 year old I had my first flight on a Butler
Elizabethian for £1 and we went Casino Oakey & return. Mr Butler (not as
pilot) came for the trip and talked to us all. He did signed our tickets "C
Arthur Butler welcome aboard"

Scott is thinking of another book Kendal/Hazelton to REX so if you have
knowledge of that era please pass it on to Scott. Scott is with Virgin
Engineering (head Electrical) these days and is a true enthusiast for
aviation history.

Mr Butler never talked to Mr Ansett who took over (hostile) his airline. Mr
Butler then tried to start a new jet airline with Caravelle (French
made-Australia had to get British & if you got a permit to import you had
to pay think 6.25% or 8 1/3% duty) but he got the 18 month runaround from
the then DCA. Nothing has changed in 50 years- a friend got the 2year
runaround from now CASA to get a citation 7 on his AOC!!!

The leopard will never change its spots I am afraid dispite government
accepting 34 of the 37 recommendations for change in Aviation. The MPs
are around for just 3 years & CASA high level staff consider they know it
all about Aviation & again. will just ignore the MPsl Sad but true I am
afraid.
