My current understanding is that there is no firmware support discontinuance 
for any existing flarm models, having discussed this directly with the CEO of 
Flarm CH just recently. The new committed annual software updates have been put 
in place to ensure continuous backwards compatibility for existing units for 
many years to come according to Flarm CH.

On the other hand, i am seeing a random but accelerating failure rate on older 
models independent of manufacturer type. I have not done deep fault analysis on 
the exact component failure reason so cant shed any light on why, but two 
common symptoms are failure of the firmware load of the new image and GPS lock 
fail (firmware load independent).

Unless the units are less than a couple of years old, you would likely not make 
any progress with a Consumer Claim as even a statutory warranty claim would not 
stand up. Additionally your legal costs would near immediately outweigh the 
cost of a replacement unit.
