We always get the GPTEXB3 codes added and use the Telstra.extranet APN to avoid the said issues. You then get a Public (routable) IP and can do what you want. The IP isn't static, but DDNS sorts that out for us. We've had no problems using that system for many years now for Cellular only sites, or remotes devices.
