Hi Matthew,

Thanks for this! I had no idea Vocus was an option so I’ll be reaching out to
them.

It does seem like NBN are making things hard to try and keep out this riff raff
(which I get), but it’s disappointing to hear that you’re still having trouble
even after deciding to make all the necessary commitments.

We would probably be in the same boat – but from everything I’ve seen so far,
even though we’re small, it would make overall business sense for us to go down
this path given we can ultimately provide a better experience for our customers
and us. I hope for both our sakes that you get through it okay!

Rhys.

Hi Rhys,

I would look at Vocus and Field Services Group while you are at it.

Keep in mind the NBN onboarding is time consuming.

They also have a ridiculous hurdle where they decide if they want you to
onboard or not directly which I am currently fighting against so you may want
to explore that before you go too far as it will take you months to get past.

For a public wholesale only network, they seem to try and shutdown anyone whom
they consider small and push them to an aggregator even when I can show them it
is commercially better for us to not to…

Subject: [AusNOG] NBN vNNI

Hi Everyone,

Happy Friday.

We are looking at the feasibility of using NBN’s vNNI product so that we’re
able to move to using NBNCo direct for our services. Thought I’d post here
because there’s always a bunch of really insightful knowledge to be gained.

In particular, wondering if there’s any suggestions in terms of vNNI providers.
It looks like there’s two main providers listed for this product (Superloop and
Virtutel) – at least listed on NBN’s website. If anyone knows of others, I’d
love to hear about it. Also wondering if anyone has any experiences with either
that might sway me one way or another. I haven’t contacted either provider yet
but I’m sure I’ll end up talking to both.

A key thing in our case is that we’d need to be able to aggregate back to EQX
SY3 and ME1 only through the vNNI backhaul provider.

I’m also wondering if anyone has any experience on this and if there’s any
feedback or suggestions. I am quite sure we’ll want to go down this path,
provided we can make it work commercially but I’d be curious if anyone has any
thoughts on at what point it made sense for them to move from an aggregator
over to vNNI?

Thanks all!
