همه کنفرانس ها و همایش های علمی برای اینکه هزینه های برگزاری خود را بصورت منظم در بیاورند هزینه دریافت میکنند و معمولا بر اساس ارزش، کیفیت و تعداد دفعات برگزار شده، این هزینه افزایش مییابد. این روند تقریبا در همه ژورنالها هم مشاهده میشود. مگر اینکه بصورت محدود بتوانید مجلاتی را پیدا کنید که آنلاین باشند و بر اساس فرآیندهایی که در آنها طراحی شده است (مثلا Peer Review یا دریافت حمایت های جانبی یا هر سیاست دیگری)، هزینه دریافت نکنند.
