Hi everybody,
Like Wanda on the dev list, I'm new to OOo and recently qualified in
Technical Communication through exams with the ISTC in the UK. While I'm
searching for employment in the field I've taken some advice and signed up
with yourselves, and dare I mention then, WordPress.
My background:
Never really had a settled career path. BSc in biochem, then lab jobs and
then ended up with a PhD in my late 20s. Didn't fancy the postdoc treadmill
so tried science journalism and then ran a small book business for a few
years. Marriage and kids came along and I ended up as the homemaker. Wrote
some children's ghost fiction, and spent a decade in football
copywriting/journalism. Became chairman of a not-for-profit org and dealt
with their comms among other things. With eldest child now able to hold the
fort I decided it was time to make my move and I plumped for technical
communication.
So, I have plenty of writing/communication/business experience. What I need
is real technical communication experience. As you can see I'm a light on
platform/software development, but I'm heavy on more traditional writing
skills.
I'm happy to help in any way I can and look forward to a fruitful
relationship.
