You MUST use OOo3.3 for checking the books we are updating. Until OOo3.3 is released, you can get the latest release candidate from this page: http://download.openoffice.org/all_rc.html It's at RC3, which should be very close to release, and on my machine is behaving itself fine.
It replaces OOo3.2.1, although you can (if you really insist) do things to prevent that from occurring.
