I am trying to help someone that is working on a city ordnances manual.
The areas involved are not changeable and must be in the formats shown.
Each document is a section, what we would call a chapter. We have been
able to get the page numbers to show the section plus the actual page
number for that section, normal stuff. The page numbers restart a one in
each section. Each section has the number format of 1.0 , 2.0 and so on.
The page number format is 1.0-1 and so on.

The problem is this:

When building the index at the end of the document only the first,
Header 1, item shows the section number with the page number. The index
that will be in the master document has to show the section and page
number so that a person will know where to section to look for the page.

I have tried using the Header 2 Outline for the paragraphs in a section
but the end up with 1.1 style for the first paragraph, it needs to be
1.01. With the Header 2 Outline the Index picks up the Paragraph number
instead of the Chapter Information to show in the index.

This is what the current index looks like:

Zoning Ordinance -
Abrogation/Greater Restrictions -1
Authorities -1
Intent of -1
Interpretation of -2
Introduction to 1-1
Jurisdiction of -2
Liability Warning & Disclaimer -2

What it needs to look like, at least:

Zoning Ordinance -
Abrogation/Greater Restrictions 1-1
Authorities 1-1
Intent of 1-1
Interpretation of 1-2
Introduction to 1-1
Jurisdiction of 1-2
Liability Warning & Disclaimer 1-2

Preferred look:

Zoning Ordinance -
Abrogation/Greater Restrictions 1.0-1
Authorities 1.0-1
Intent of 1.0-1
Interpretation of 1.0-2
Introduction to 1.0-1
Jurisdiction of 1.0-2
Liability Warning & Disclaimer 1.0-2

Does anyone have any suggestions or where I can find help on this matter?

Thanks in advance.
Andy

Hi, Andy,

First, my suggestion is to take this to the fora. When I had a strange problem, I found not only the problem, but also the solution, were already there.

Looking at the "Insert > Index > Alphabetic Index > Entries" tab, you should be able to add the "Chapter Info" (CI) to the output for your secondary entries. If that looks like "x.0", you're golden.

Because I never use outline numbering or indices in my own work, I am hampered in analyzing the problem. I would need at least a sample of the whole document to see what's going on (sent privately, of course, not to the list). That is, it's clear what you want, but not clear what you've got.
