I'm working on Chapter 1 of the Base Guide changing it to the 3.3
template and changing the front page graphics. I used the template
extension to apply the template already.
Recently after following instructions on anchoring graphics and what
paragraph styles to use, I decided my first task in this chapter is to
apply the appropriate styles to the figures in this chapter.
As I looked through the figures, I noticed that the numbering of the
figures were not accurate. Furthermore, every time after using
OOoHeading1, the figure number reset to Figure 1.
As a test, open a new document using the 3.3 template. Then I created
two frames with numbered captions with a line style of OOoTextBody
between the frames. They were in consecutive order. When I changed the
text style for the line between the frames from OOoTextBody to
OOoHeading 1, the bottom frame's numbered captions changed from Figure 2
to Figure 1. The other heading styles do not seem to affect the
captioning numbering.
Anyone have any ideas as to why this might be happening? I'm using the
OOo3.3 on Ubuntu 10.4 LTS 64 bit. The OOo is from the OOo website.

I think that since Heading 1 is used for chapters it is seeing a new
chapter, like in a MD, and restarting the figures.

I am currently using an OOo 3.3 chapter file for creating a DocBook 4.5
XML template with FrameMaker, so I just rechecked the OOo heading styles.
No, as expected, OOoHeading0 is used for chapter titles. OOoHeading1 is
merely a first-level subhead paragraph, as usual.
A Figure 1: xxx caption will appear as Figure Number range Figure: xxx
with the Field Names visible. Another OOoHeading 1 paragraph entry
should not alter the value for the field variable (Number range Figure).
