Why a new list? Two main reasons: (1) We don't know yet what will happen with mailing lists at OOo during and after the transition of OOo to Apache, so it's good to be prepared in case the current list address is no longer working. (2) We have been talking about ways to reuse our material for supporting different products. A product-neutral mailing list is good for this. No doubt there are other good reasons for having a list at our own domain, but I'm too tired to remember what they are. ;-) We don't actually have to move to the new list until/unless we are forced to, but I think it would be a good idea to start doing so over the next few weeks. At this point, I encourage you to subscribe and start posting there as well as here.
