Subject: Re: [authors] database guide

Garry and Martin,

I'd like to help out with the OO Base documentation at Authors. I can
put together an article on connecting to MySQL, and I'm setting up OO
for PostgreSQL right now. If you'd like the help just let me know how
to get started. I imagine there is a document template that I need to
download.

Landon

Thanks for your offer. Jean will set up the necessary permissions on the Author's site. We are working on version 2 of OO, is this what you are using? On the site you will find documents about the Base guide. You could get going with any of the following:
1. Connecting to MySQL using a connector on Windows and Linux
2. Connecting to MySQL using ODBC on Windows and Linux.
3. Connecting to PostgreSQL using a connector on Windows and Linux (not sure whether the connector can be used on windows)

Please see my connecting to Postgres document for an idea of what to write.

Please let me know what you are working on so that we do not duplicate. At the moment Base v2 is not terribly easy to work with so I suggest we do not get involved with developing the application. I am working on database theory for the appendix.
regards
Garry
