I managed to find a few minutes to look at "Working with Writer". I've
accepted all of Iain's changes to Working with Writer and put it back on
the review list. Thanks, Iain, for the work you've done on it -- a definite
improvement. But there is much to be done yet.
This should be a group effort, so if Iain or anyone else wants a go at it,
please do! Material is missing, and other material needs updating or
rewriting. The bits on formatting a page might be best removed and put into
another chapter, perhaps combined with "Working with Sections" as suggested
by Iain earlier. If so, that chapter would need a new name.
For reference, here's what I said on that subject earlier:
"As for putting the page layout stuff in the chapter on sections... I'll
have to think about that a bit more, and I'm open to suggestons from
others, but my initial reaction is negative. Some immediate thoughts
include: sections can be used for far more than page layout, so the other
uses of sections might get lost in a chapter on page layout. And of course
tables are primarily used for purposes other than page layout, which are
covered in a separate chapter on tables."
"My inclination is to have a chapter on page layout, that includes the
relevant stuff about page styles, tables, frames, and sections (and remove
that info from the Working with Writer chapter). Page styles, tables, and
sections would be in other chapters as well. (I'm not sure about frames.)"
Janet, if you have opinions on this chapter, and especially on the page
layout information in it, please join the discussion. I'm not really the
author of this chapter, nor do I want to assume the role of editor for it.
My contribution was mainly to throw in a lot of pre-existing material that
should be reworked to fit into the chapter.
Jean
