I think that can be acomodated. One small introductory chapter for each 
component. The chapter should try to make it evident that there is a whole 
other guide available for that component. (how to do that is left as an 
exercise for the reader :)

In all honesty, I don't like a "common features" guide. I never did, 
really. But I am ecstatic over a getting started guide.
