Now that I have had a short look at Introducing Writer, I think that
most of my work can be reused. Even the screenshots are still there,
as far as I have seen (these take quite some time to do right).

As far as I have seen, I like "Introducing Writer" a lot more than
"Writer Basics". There were several things in the older document
that would have needed review anyway. That's one added benefit
of tranlating your texts into other languages: You get basically
one very thorough reviewer, who reads every sentence and recreates
every screenshot, for free. Of course as someone who is no native
speaker of English, I am not really any good in helping with
issues of style or the language of Documents, but content-wise
it might be helpful.
Are you planning larger changes and larger reorganisations in
Introducing Writer, or is it basically complete now?
